Bernadette C. Waystack
Bernadette Corbett Waystack works primarily in pastels featuring landscapes both traditional and more abstract. She also works in textiles creating art quilts and fiber collages. Her favorite subject matter is landscapes due to the influence of living in a place as inspirational as Cape Cod. A background in quilt making contributes to a textural style, stemming from an attraction to the tactile and immediate quality that both fabric and pastel provide. She strives for an impressionistic approach attempting to capture the essence, the light and the feeling of the scene. Her desire is to create a strong sense of place and presence in the work.
She is a member of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum; Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod; Cape Museum of Fine Arts; Castle Hill Center for the Arts, Truro; Arts Foundation of Cape Cod; Creative Arts Center and the Cape Cod & Islands Art Educators Association.
Her work has been exhibited in shows with the Cape Cod Museum of Art; Provincetown Art Association and Museum; Pastel Painters Society; Creative Arts Center and the Higgins Gallery at Cape Cod Community College. She can be reached at Bernadette C. Waystack Fine Art Studio in Harwich Port, MA.
