I felt the need to broaden the scope of my blog while realizing I still need to have some sort of boundary (they call it a niche in blogging terms, I know). At the same time, my main identity is that of artist and educator and I certainly started this blog to promote my own artwork and career. But like a lot of people, I have a number of interests most of which intersect somehow in the area of arts/culture (or cultcha as we would say back in JP*).
I do tend to get on a jag about certain things when they catch my fancy, though I have become better disciplined as I have grown older. So I figured if I am mostly about art but acknowledge that I go off on tangents now and then, I can cover what I should and sometimes just what I want with the tangent umbrella.
If you look at the categories, you’ll see the basic parameters I have set for myself and can monitor whether I am keeping myself within bounds. Or pounce on me for not doing so, if that is more what you’re into on your end.
*P.S. For those who never pahked their cahs… JP refers to Jamaica Plain, the Metropolitan Boston neighborhood from which I originally hail: home of Joey McIntyre, The Footlights Club and, I guess nowadays, the Milky Way Lounge and Bowling Alley. Boy! I’m sorry I left for UMASS before the Centre Street area got so cool and artsy.
